Simply hang a tea bag or tea ball on the beak. Fill a cup, mug or pot with hot water and place it below the tea bag/ball. Winding the timer to its maximum 20 minute setting automatically

 drops the tea bag into the water.  Then you dial in the desired steeping time and when the time is up, watch the beak lift the tea bag/ball up and out of the water.
